Hi everyone! I'm Adrienne. Here are some pieces I've been working on lately:
Figure drawing is my absolute favorite thing to do. I love working with charcoal; it's so versatile, and its boldness and blend-ability (I may have just invented a word) agree well with my tendency to draw on a large scale. This is a charcoal sketch I made of a friend.Although I've been getting into drawing quite a bit more than photography lately, I'm a photographer at heart, and it definitely shows in my drawings. I think the two go together quite well. I'm inspired to draw by what I see around me; photography is just another way of capturing it. I plan to make a charcoal drawing from this photograph, which I took in Paris this past Spring.
A few months ago I discovered printmaking. It's a lot of fun-- this last piece is made from a photograph I took of a friend's dog. I cranked up the contrast, printed the photo, transferred it by pencil onto a sheet of linoleum and carved the image. I went a little crazy with the printing press and colored ink, so what you see is a combination of four different prints (I layered them in Photoshop just for fun). I don't usually work in color, but it was this endeavor that made me interested in starting to do so. I'm looking forward to exploring new drawing mediums in the next several weeks. :)
